Scholars of law and social science face ever-increasing pressure to be useful to society “outside the ivory tower”. In this wide-ranging conversation, Jan Komárek and Bernard Harcourt will reflect on the conditions of “scholarly authority” and the responsibilities that flow from it. This conversation will consider what constitutional scholars in particular can and should do in the face of contemporary crises like democratic backsliding, the rise of authoritarian populism, challenges to the rule of law, and racial injustice in the US and Europe.
